The CS Peter Munya today morning launched the National Livestock Vaccination Programme in Kajiado county at Oloosuyian . The programme according to the government is to control trans boundary animal diseases or TADS which threaten livestock. Munya said livestock production in Kenya is always under the threat of occurrence of a number of diseases like rift valley fever (RVF), foot and mouth disease etc which are the cause of dwindling of the livestock industry in Kenya. Munya told the community that the government is soon doing digital tagging in reducing theft among borders and within the communities. Animal digital tagging will also be part of actualizing the livestock numbers and traceability. The exercise of vaccination will be implemented countrywide, said the CS. He was accompanied by CAS Linah Chebii Kilimo, PS Livestock Harry Kimtai, Director Livestock Production Charles Kiptarus among others.
