Government receives pesticides to fight Fall Army Worm

The Kenya Government on July 5 2017, received a donation of pesticides worth Sh.10 million from a leading Agro-chemical company –Bayer East Africa to complement the Government fight against the Fall Army Worm which has ravaged maize and other cereal crops in high agricultural regions of the country.
The pesticides were handed over to the Agriculture, Livestock & Fisheries Cabinet Secretary Mr. Willy Bett by Bayer East Africa Managing Director Mr. Eric Bureau.
The Governement has spent over Sh.325m to fight the rare pest since it was discovered in the country in March 2017. Bett asked other stakeholders to join hands in fighting the destructive pest.
