Today CS Peter Munya toured Garissa and Kitui Counties, to asses the control of the desert locusts in these regions.
In his remarks, CS affirmed that the Government has procured 7200 litres of appropriate pesticides and 20 spray vehicles will be procured by FAO.
Six regions have been identified for control, where the recently trained NYS service will be deployed to help eliminate locusts through ground spraying.
The CS noted that the good collaboration between both the County and National Goverments is making the ongoing control of locusts in the country successful.
He was flanked by the Kitui Governor Hon Charity Ngilu, Fafi MP Hon Abdikarim osman rati, Hamisi Williams FAO reprentative in Kenya, Administrative Secretary Mr. Harsama Kello and Mr. David Mwangi Head Crop Protection Unit.
