PS SDL Mr Harry Kimtai attends an official National Exit Workshop of Small Dairy Commercialization Programme at Dairy Training Institute (DTI), in Naivasha.

The PS SDL Mr Harry Kimtai today attended an official National Exit Workshop of Small Dairy Commercialization Programme at Dairy Training Institute (DTI), in Naivasha. The Workshop was planned to reflect on the achievements and lessons learnt from the programme. SDCP has been in operation since 2006, funded by the GOK and the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD). Kimtai thanked IFAD for their great support to this programme which has uplifted small-town scale dairy farmers in Kenya and increased the incomes of the poor rural families.

 

PS Kimtai also officially opened the Dairy Training Institute (DTI) conference centre and 38 modern hostels constructed by SDCP, through the support of IFAD.

 

 

Opening of the 116th ASK Show in Mombasa

Today, H.E the President Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta opened the 116th ASK Show in Mombasa.

In his speech, the President said that his administration has developed a Comprehensive ASTGS 2010-2029 that will guide in increasing agricultural productivity urging the 47 Counties to domesticate it.

He noted that his Government recognizes the importance of Blue Economy and has therefore revived the Liwatoni Fisheries Centre in Mombasa and is in the process of establishing the Shimoni Mariculture Centre.

Further he said that the Ministry of Agriculture has developed the Kenya Agriculture Insurance Programme (KAIP), a Crop Insurance, which has benefited close to 50,000 farmers and the Kenya Livestock Insurance Program in ASAL areas, which has benefitted close to 180 pastoralists.

He was joined by Tourism CS Najib Balala, CAS Dr. Andrew Tuimur, Governor Mombasa Hassan Joho, Governor Kajiado Joseph Ole Lenku, PS Fisheries Prof Ntiba, and PS Livestock Harry Kimtai among other leaders.
