National, County Governments to collaborate to grow agriculture

Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Hon. Mwangi Kiunjuri hosted a successful consultative meeting for the Council of Governors in Mombasa on May 8, 2019 where the two levels of Government agreed to work together to enhance national food and nutrition security.

The two levels of Government noted that they have not cooperated closely enough in the past, which had resulted in challenges in implementing agricultural activities and programmes.

“The two levels of Government compliment, rather than compete with each other, hence the need for us to collaborate more closely for the sake of developing our agricultural sector” the CS  and the chairman of the Council of Governors Hon. Wycliffe Oparanya observed.

The Meeting which was attended by a record 14 Governors and senior Ministry officials who included the Chief Administrative Secretary Andrew Tuimur and Principal Secretaries resolved to address pertinent issues that hampered the discharge of the Government agricultural mandate.
